Interdisciplinary Ensemble

“Hey, the theater is here. It has something to say. It dares to do something. It is colorful and beautiful and passionate and big. It is important. It is topical. It is fun. It is serious. It will touch you! Hey, you must have seen this. Hey, you will talk about it. Guy Weizman and his fantastic ensemble have created a total work of art. There is music, wonderful singing, dancing, fancy costumes, and there is a gripping story. (…) At the end: unanimous cheers, long standing applause, and lots of hugs on stage.” Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung

Guy & Roni

Guy Weizman and Roni Haver have danced with companies including Batsheva Ensemble (Tel Aviv), Ultima  Vez  (Brussels), L’anònima  Imperial (Barcelona) and finally moved to Groningen (The Netherlands) to work with choreographer Itzik Galili in 1998.

In 2002 Club Guy & Roni was founded in Groningen, and has since been touring extensively across the Netherlands and abroad with their artistic integrity and trajectory built upon the belief that the complexity of the 21st century world can no longer be described in a single language or art discipline. In 2021 Club Guy and Roni was appointed the status of a national dance company by the Dutch Ministry of Culture, making it one of the 5 largest dance companies in the Netherlands.

Since 2017 Guy Weizman has also been the artistic director of the Groningen based theater company Noord  Nederlands  Toneel
(NNT), one of the 3 biggest theater companies in the Netherlands, structurally funded by the Dutch ministry of culture. The artistic team runs both companies together, forming the interdisciplinary movement NITE: National Interdisciplinary Theater Ensemble.

In the performances newly composed music is brought live to the stage performed by musicians of the ensembles of Slagwerk Den Haag (percussion group The Hague) and  Asko|Schönberg.

Different from the other national theater companies in the Netherlands, NITE creates new repertoire: Texts are newly written and created in the interdisciplinary spectrum creating various world premieres a year.

Throughout the years Guy and Roni have been choreographers in residence in Staatstheater Oldenburg (Germany) and Tanz Mainz (Germany) as well as as well as guest choreographers for companies including Ballet du Nord (France), Carte Blanche (Norway), The Theatre Ballet Moscow (Russia) and Gothenburg Ballet (Sweden).

Guy and Roni along with the NITE ensemble continuously collaborate along the interdisciplinary spectrum, working with artists including Manuela Infante (Chile), fashion house Maison the Faux, directors Jan-Christope Gockel and Falk Richter (Münchner Kammerspiele), award winning director Eline Arbo (Norway), the Koninklijke Vlaamse Schouwburg (Royal Flemish Theatre, Brussels) and Schauspielhaus Hannover (Germany).

The Human odyssey is the consequential result of co-creations with dance companies around the world with a focus on sharing and creating collective stories and exchanging cultural points of view. Upcoming creations include performances with artists in and from India, Mexico and Morocco.

Meet the ensemble

The result is fearlessly imaginative theatre that is large-scale in vision and experimental in form, filled with exciting risks, challenging esotericism and some thrilling effects” – ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Guardian
